She Was Pretty Ep 16 Review (and thank you for a fun 16 episodes!)

The recap was getting too long so I moved this over here. This won’t contain anything in the vein of my usual analysis because there really isn’t much to analyze with this show. Those expecting smarts and stunts are watching the wrong show. But at the same time there’s nothing really wrong with simplicity. It’s a breath of fresh air at times really, when you just want to relax and watch people having fun instead of getting your heart town out because of sexy men in leather and eyeliner. Though I ended up getting my heart torn out anyway because of Shinhyuk.  Continue reading “She Was Pretty Ep 16 Review (and thank you for a fun 16 episodes!)”

She Was Pretty Ep 16 Finale Recap (and weddings, smooches and truckloads of cuteness!)

SO MUCH CUTE! My cheeks ached from grinning from all the cutesieness, and I nearly got cavity from all the syrupy lines, but I’m overall satisfied with the end of She Was Pretty. Further thoughts below, but first, the recap!
[Warning: this recap will be screencap-heavy, and I’ll be updating it a bit at a time, as adding screencaps takes foreverrrrrr 😛]

We flashback to little Hyejin professing her dream of becoming a writer. We then see Hyejin resigning from working and preparing for her year long sojourn as a member of the writer’s group. In voice-over, she says this:
Hyejin: When you’re young, many people ask ‘What is your dream?’ However, as I mature, the number of people asking what my dream is gradually disappearing. Holding onto my dream until I become an adult isn’t easy in this world. When faced with reality, somewhere along the line, the fact that the dream seems way out of reach, and seems to have disappeared, causes me not to even remember what my dream was to begin with at any given moment. However, before completely forgetting my dream, thankfully, someone asked the adult version of me again. She Was Pretty Ep 15 Mini Recap (and farewell my dearest Shinhyuk)

[University’s finally caught up, so this’ll be a recap with fewer screencaps, besides Shinhyuk’s farewell. It actually takes me 1-1.5 hours to get all the screencaps in usually, and I don’t have that time today! 😦 I should be all caught up to recap next week’s finale though!]

Shinhyuk calmly introduces himself as TEN while Sungjoon reels in shock. He hands Sungjoon a recording he’s made, telling him to use it to write the main feature article. Sungjoon understands what implications this’ll have for Shinhyuk and hesitates, yet Shinhyuk reverts to his characteristic jokey behaviour and tells him to go on and do it. He says he planned to tell Hyejin first, but knowing her, she’d feel too bad to actually write anything so he’s entrusting this to Sungjoon. He did create the recording thinking he’d be speaking to Hyejin though, so he asks Sungjoon to excuse the informal language. Despite all his outward humour, that’s a vein of sadness that runs deep in his eyes. Shinhyuk leaves before Sungjoon can protest any further. Sungjoon returns him and listens to the recording his face growing more and more worried before calling the print shop editor and telling him to proceed anyway, without the main feature article. Aww, he’s protecting Shinhyuk hereContinue reading “She Was Pretty Ep 15 Mini Recap (and farewell my dearest Shinhyuk)”

She Was Pretty Ep 14 Recap (and TEN is….!)

We return to Sungjoon and Hyejin prior to them kissing where he vows that he’s more certain of this decision (to marry her) than anything his whole life. They smooch and I swoon. Meanwhile, Shinhyuk hears that the interview with Leonard Kim’s been cancelled owing to something shady the fellow has done. Ji Sungjoon sees the text messages and missed calls upon returning to the office and just about has a heart attack. But there’s nothing that can be done. She Was Pretty Ep 13 Recap (and cuddles and swoony kisses galore!)

I’m glad that this ep’s up for the somewhat mini-recap because we honestly didn’t have much happening in the way of plot (even less than usual xD) but She Was Pretty made up for that in more way than one!
So Sungjoon and Hyejin basically spend the first half hour of the episode flirting and kissing. I kid you not.

She Was Pretty Ep 12 Recap in Screencaps (and hooray for friendship and sisterhood!)

[Tomorrow’s recap will be really short, you guys, because university unfortunately calls! 😦 Now if only I could make a career out of recapping!]

Hyejin sits morosely on a bench at the airport, still unable to believe that Hari left, and would you look at who spots her!

Ji Sung sends over a food truck to his ‘She Was Pretty’ dongsaengs!

Aww! How sweet is this! Ji Sung and Lee Boyoung have a history of sending each other food trucks, and supporting costars in their other works and now it’s Ji Sung’s turn to send his “brother and sister” one! He chose the menu carefully and arranged things such that it wouldn’t interfere with the filming.

The banner above which has my precious Segi and Dohyun, says “It’s time to eat samgyetang! I’m buying!”
Samgyetang is ginseng chicken soup so he’s looking out for their health.  Continue reading “Ji Sung sends over a food truck to his ‘She Was Pretty’ dongsaengs!”

She Was Pretty Ep 11 Recap in Screencaps (and here comes the angst)

[Note: Announcing ‘A Recap in Screencaps’

I love recapping and reviewing dramas and heaven knows I’ve vowed far too many times to make constant posting a priority of mine, but university, life and my inability to tear myself away from watching dramas long enough to recap them, always interfere with this. Enter ‘A Recap in Screencaps’. I’ll post screencaps that summarize key parts/ type up the dialogue in play format and fill in the gaps with words. It makes a quick, comprehensible read (and you won’t have to sift through my wall of text!) and is pretty quick for me to put together! Let me know what you think in the comments below and I’ll definitely be able to do this for more dramas! 🙂 ]

Turns out that Sungjoon had already seen Hari’s name on an Employee of the month poster hence his very stilted tone during that phone call. He catches her just as she leaves.  Continue reading “She Was Pretty Ep 11 Recap in Screencaps (and here comes the angst)”

She Was Pretty Ep 10 Review (and the truth’s out)

This episode was all about the truth. All but the biggest secret has been revealed. But the question is, does that secret even matter anymore?

Hyejin really shines in this episode. She gets one hell of a knock but bounces straight back up.

Seeing Hari meeting with Sungjoon behind her back is bad enough but hear him call her “Hyejin” is the final nail in the coffin. It’s both interesting as sad that the first person she calls is Shinhyuk. Because she’s just so comfortable around him, and because the person whom she’d normally talk to about everything is the one who’s just hurt her so badly. She cares about Hari and knows her well enough to wait for her to tell the truth herself. Friendship, to Hyejin is worth fighting for, regardless of whether the man she likes is involved. I mentioned in an earlier review than Hyejin is without artifice and this episode really, really showed that, especially in her interactions with Shinhyuk. She’s open, warm and genuine in her gratitude that he’s around, and her worry that he got hurt, because of her or not. Hilariously, the shoe’s on the other foot with Sungjoon. I cheered so hard when she nonchalantly admitted that she liked Sungjoon and was certain that he liked her as well. Which is why watching her flail about around Sungjoon was utterly hilarious. Because as over-the-top as it may seem, it’s actually quite realistic. I’ve seen perfectly rational, confident, sane individuals go utterly mental once the object of their affections enters the room. And thankfully, in Hyejin’s case, it goes both ways.

She Was Pretty Ep 9 Recap & Review (and tangled feelings are finally sorted through)

We flashback to the start of Hyejin’s transformation. She gets her tamed tamed for a whopping $700 in total, buys some clothes that are neither brand-name nor expensive (merely prettier than a baggy t-shirt and jeans, though she looks cute in both) and adamantly plants herself on the make-up chair for a transformation. She walks into the office and picks up the phone as we saw last week.

The Most team stares slack-jawed at Hyejin’s transformation. Shinhyuk in particular can’t take his eyes off her. Fashion director Cha and the other ladies congratulate her on her return and the guy Seul was after (whose name I can never seem to remember besides the fact that he’s Park Yoochun’s brother in real life) runs up and hugs her to Seul’s ire. Hyejin’s all cheery as usual. Seul tentatively compliments her on her new look before turning away and muttering that she was worried Hyejin lost her job because of her. At least she’s getting a bit less selfish?

Shinhhyuk, as it turns out, is actually horrified at her transformation and whines about how much he loved her freckles and red cheeks (this man is so perfect!) and she’s all torn between annoyance and confusion which is adorable to see.
