Thoughts on Episode 7 of Liar Game

I’ll try not to post spoilers in during my ramblings and focus more on the tiny details I noticed per episode and the questions that each invariable brings. First off, I am so in love. Ha Woo Jin continues to be the best male K-drama lead I have seen in years. I squealed so hard at that “I won’t let Da-Jung get hurt” bit and the “In want to see her dream realized” bit. Can I fall even more in love with this man?

That being said things are starting to heat up. Kang Do-Young sudden (not so surprising when you think about it) entrance into the game has resulted the stakes being raised for our hero and heroine. More so,now that he actively appears to be pursuing WooJin. I’m super worried that his supposed overreaching when making this second promise (that resulted in Jamie leaving his prty) is but a ploy. Kang Do Young (henceforth KDY) is not the sort to simply make mistakes without there being an ulterior motive and I am honestly scared for Ha WooJin (henceforth HWJ) and Nam DaJung (Henceforth NDJ) as to what this may mean.

If you consider KDY’s supposed overreaching as a ploy on his aprt, then HWJ appears to have fallen for the bait, hook, line and sinker. The preview for the next episode (I have yet to see it) shows HWJ angrily saying “You dare betray me after all I’ve done for you!” which seriously scares me, because a display of anger from him means that this wasn’t an ordinary participant. HWJ expects betrayal and lies from all of the other participants in the game. Take Lawyer Go, or SungJoon or any of the others. HWJ was clearly prepared for them abandoning NDJ, he was clearly expecting betrayal from every corner of this game. So for him to utter such words, in such anger, means that this was someone whom he had an inkling of trust for (even if minute). And that scares me. Because our near-infallible hero, is beginning to drop his guard (the NDJ effect? I love how she’s an influence on him) and at the worst time possible for him to drop it.

  

That being said, he may have a plan up his sleeve and we may just see him emerging victor once more, at the conclusion of this round. Something I found curious was that they showed what button (True or False) that Minister Kang pressed before declaring his  first promise, and we definitely know that KDY’s promise was false. However, something interesting occured when DalGoo went up to make his first promise. The camera showed him covering the screen with his left hand, and presumably making his choice with his right (all while looking about him nervously). Now I’m not sure whether Dal-Goo’s promise truly was false. Wouldn’t that be a twist? After all KDY has clearly used up his lie, therefore DalGoo could use his final promies to lie (and lie well) and get the voters/ participants to vote for him and thereby keep NDJ and HWJ in the game. Still all guesses though as I’ve yet to see ep 8 (holding off so I can savour its beauty xD)

Yet this an episode of growth as well. I was rather surprised when NDJ suggested using up the lie first. I mean this is NDJ. But rather than this being evidence of her corruption, I honestly think that she’s just spent too much time around HWJ. The look of satisfaction on HWJ’s face says as much.

I love that look. It screams pride and approval. MOAR PLEASE!

Jamie (is beautiful) is emerging as a more and more important (and powerful) piece in the game.

I’m more than a little terrified of what the KDY + Jamie combo will mean though. For it truly seems difficult for me to believe that Jamie was fooled by him so quickly. And what on earth is this nefarious plan they have in mind for Director Jung? AAHH QUESTIONS!!

I can’t wait for answers and for watching the next episode, (which I’ll probably do the moment I’m done this post) which will leave me with yet another week’s wait until the next episode. In the mean time, though I’ll stare at this beautiful face though, thank you very much.

(*sigh* sometimes I forget that he’s taken. Man the way he looks at NDJ has me squealing with joy/excitement and screaming with envy. Maybe I should get out more)
